Noida to get 121-metre skywalk connecting sector 15 metro station to IOCL- no more jaywalking News24 –

To ease the access of the commuters and also aid the intense traffic congestion in the area, a new skywalk will be constructed all the way from Sector 15, Noida to IOCL. The skywalk will be around 121 m in length. As per a report by Amar Ujala, the overall cost of the project will be around Rs 15.4 crore.

The skywalk will span from Sector 15 all the way to Sector 1, Indian Oil Corporation Limited. This skywalk will add to the ease of residents trying to cross the road. Going by the tender that has been released by the Noida authorities, the overall budget of the project will be around Rs 15.4 crore.

The skywalk will be built on BOT basis (Build, Operate, Transfer) basis. The Authority’s GM R.P. Singh said that after the tender, if the agency is selected, the new skywalk will be ready in six to eight months. The authority might also get a revenue of around Rs 15 crore in 11 years.

The Sector 15 Metro station faces heavy traffic from two routes coming from Delhi. Noida’s Udyog Marg faces heavy traffic congestion. Hence, the pedestrians in the area often hold up traffic while crossing the roads. To solve this issue, a new skywalk development is being planned.

New Plans

Passengers alighting the Sector 15 Metro station will be able to access Sector 14 via the skywalk, instead of going down by the stairs. This will eliminate the need to cross the intersection on the main road. The skywalk will supposedly have two elevators. The skywalk will cross DSC Road and Udyog Marg. Another advantage will be that passengers will not have to cross the road after alighting. They can go to Sectors 1, 2, and 14 as they wish.
