Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (November 8, 2025) extended heartfelt congratulations to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers following a landslide victory in the local elections in the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu for blessing BJP with phenomenal support in the Sarpanch, District Panchayat and Councillor elections held across the UT.”
The Prime Minister further emphasized that the people have a “strong connection” with the party’s development agenda. “This indicates the UT’s strong connect with our Party’s development agenda. I laud our hardworking Karyakartas for their effort at the grassroots,” the X post read.

BJP Wins Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu Local Elections
The BJP claimed a resounding victory after winning 15 out of 16 villages in the Daman district Sarpanch elections, 14 out of 15 wards in the Municipal Council polls in Daman, and 15 out of 16 seats in Daman District Panchayat elections. In Diu, the BJP won both the Panchayat seats in the Sarpanch elections and swept all 8 wards in the District Panchayat polls.
In Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured a dominant win in 16 out of 26 Panchayats in the Sarpanch polls, all 15 wards in the Municipal Council elections, and 24 out of 26 wards in District Panchayat polls, according to result details shared by the party on its official X handles. The polling for the Panchayat and Municipal Council elections was conducted on November 5, 2025.
Congress Alleged ‘Election Theft’
The Congress party alleged that the BJP has committed an “election theft” as many Opposition candidates’ nominations were cancelled. “Open ‘election theft’ has taken place blatantly in the municipal corporation and panchayat elections of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The Election Commission and the BJP have conspired to cancel the nominations of Congress and opposition candidates,” Congress wrote on X.
