Delhi Car Blast: A massive explosion near Delhi’s Lal Qila metro station, Gate No. 1, on Monday, around 6.55 pm, led to multiple casualties, with at least ten confirmed deaths. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached LNJP hospital to meet the injured. He will head to the blast site shortly.
Before arriving at the site, the Home Minister told news agency ANI, “This evening, around 7 pm, a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot. The NSG and NIA teams, along with the FSL, have now begun a thorough investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras. I have also spoken to the Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge. The Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge are present at the spot. We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public. I will be heading to the spot shortly and will also visit the hospital immediately.”

Here Are 10 Major Updates On The Incident
- Authorities have sounded a high alert in the national capital region and other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Punjab, and Haryana.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation in the wake of the blast in Delhi, government sources said.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Delhi Police CP Satish Golcha and other officials as he arrived at Jan Lok Nayak Hospital to meet the injured
- Police conducted checking drives in crowded areas, including Sector 18. Intensified patrolling and CCTV monitoring are underway near metro stations.
- A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell also arrived at the blast site. Teams from the NSG, NIA, and the forensic department rushed to the Red Fort region as well.
- The serial bomb blast reportedly occurred in an I-20 sports car near the Red Fort Metro Station. Three passengers were inside the vehicle.
- The fire brigade got a call just after 7 pm. The location of the blast-cum-fire was reported to be Lal Qila Metro Station Gate No. 1 near Gauri Shankar Mandir.
- Multiple people were taken to the LNJP Hospital following the blast.
- Medical superintendent of LNJP Hospital told ANI, “Fifteen people have been brought to Lok Nayak Hospital. Eight of them died before reaching the hospital. Three are seriously injured. One is in stable condition.”
- Seven fire tenders were initially rushed to the explosion site after the Delhi Fire Department received a call regarding the explosion around 7 pm.
