Local authorities have decided to do this to ensure smooth and efficient voting on election day.  Schools and government offices located near polling stations will remain closed for the smooth conduct of the vote-counting process. The Election Commission has confirmed that this will also be a paid holiday for eligible voters.

Which region/states will close the schools on November 14?

Every year, New Delhi and the neighbouring regions face problems with air pollution, and this year is no different. As the second week of November starts, thick smog has covered the city. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in many areas reached the ‘very poor’ level two days ago and the ‘severe’ level yesterday. This is considered to be very serious, as it can cause serious breathing and respiratory problems for people.

Haryana’s Panchkula will also close schools due to severe AQI. The educational department has issued an order stating that students of classes up to 5th standard can opt for online classes.

Outdoor Activity Suspended

Reports also indicate that school assemblies have been cancelled to limit students’ exposure to toxic air, and air purifiers have been installed across school premises. What is GRAP?

School holiday tomorrow, November 14: GRAP is a multi-step plan designed to fight air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region. It includes specific measures and rules that must be followed. In winter, GRAP restrictions are applied based on air quality, which is divided into four stages:

  • Stage I (Poor, AQI 201-300)
  • Stage II (Very Poor, AQI 301-400)
  • Stage III (Severe, AQI 401-450)
  • Stage IV (Severe Plus, AQI above 450)

Will Schools Be Closed in Bihar?

However, these 20 districts will be reopened yesterday with regular classes. The districts voted in the second phase included East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Arwal, Kaimur, and Rohtas.
