New turn in Rs 252 crore drug case; Connection to Bollywood and international parties to be investigated
Mumbai police have achieved a big breakthrough in the investigation of the Rs 252 crore mephedrone (MD) drug case. In this high-profile case, Mohammad Salim Suhail Sheikh, the fifth accused, has been arrested. He made some disclosures that have sent shockwaves through the police department.
According to sources, Salim Sheikh used to organise the high-profile drug parties in India and abroad, and these parties were used for drug transactions. Police also suspect that someone from the film industry may have been involved in organising these parties.

Who is Salim Sheikh?
According to police, Salim Shekh is the main coordinator of the entire drug network. He operated a network across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan. The kingpin of this racket is said to be Salim Dola, who is believed to be hiding in Turkey, and Salim Sheikh is considered to be one of his trusted associates.
How did the procedure begin?
The case first came to light in February 2024 when a woman was arrested with 741 grams of MD drugs. Upon investigating, she revealed the name of a chemical factory in Sangli. After the raid on the factory, 122.5 kg of MD and chemicals worth Rs 252 crore were found.
