Chilly conditions and cold wave set to bite India, alert issued for UP & other states News24 –


IMD Weather Update: As cold wave conditions begin to sweep across several parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a winter weather update. Chilly temperatures, fog, and dropping minimum temperatures are expected in various regions, signalling the official onset of winter in India. Parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and East Rajasthan are likely to experience cold conditions over the next couple of days.

IMD forecast: Rain to lash Kerala, Tamil Nadu

While northern and central India will face cold wave conditions, southern states are expected to receive rainfall on Saturday, November 15. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema today.

IMD Weather Update: Cold wave set to bite India

For northern and central states, the IMD has predicted cold wave in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on November 15 and in isolated areas of these states on November 16. Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and East Rajasthan are also expected to experience cold conditions from November 15- 16. Shallow to moderate fog is likely over Northeast India and Uttar Pradesh during the next five days.

According to the IMD, the minimum temperature is expected to remain largely unchanged over West India in the next 24 hours, followed by a fall of 3-4°C. No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over the remaining parts of the country. The lowest minimum temperature of 6.0°C was reported at Sikar (East Rajasthan) and the highest maximum temperature of 35.6°C was reported at Erode (Tamil Nadu) on November 14. Shallow fog conditions were experienced in Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, West Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.

IMD Weather Update: Forecast for Delhi

For Delhi, the IMD has forecast shallow fog in the mornings of November 15 and 16, with partly cloudy skies on November 18 and 19. Morning fog, ranging from shallow to moderate, is likely from November 17-20. Over the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures ranged between 10-12°C and maximum temperatures between 24-27°C in the national capital.IMD Weather Update:
