A disaster has struck the Billi Markundi mine of Krishna Mining Works in Sonbhadra, and several mining workers have been trapped inside the tunnel. As per media reports, the mine gave way and the roof collapsed, burying several workers under the debris. One of the workers has been confirmed dead in an incident that has caused several others to be entrapped by the rubble of the tunnel roof that gave way.

Media reports suggest that during heavy blasting in the mining area, rocks cracked and have potentially buried workers nearby. Police and the administration immediately arrived at the scene and began relief and rescue operations as soon as the incident occurred.

Relief and rescue operations are underway

The mining area falls under the Obra Police Station. The designated crew is trying to remove the debris from the mine and rescue the trapped workers. The number of trapped workers is still being ascertained.
