Bad news for TCS as Labour Ministry sends notice to IT giant seeking answer for… News24 –

The Labour Department has issued a notice to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India’s largest IT companies, after allegations of wrongful layoffs. The notice was sent by the Labour Commissionerate, asking the company to explain why so many employees were removed and under what rules this decision was taken. This action was triggered by a complaint filed by the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES).

Complaint filed with the Labour Commissioner

Earlier in July, NITES claimed that TCS was planning to reduce its total workforce by nearly 12,000 employees. According to the organisation, out of these, around 2,500 employees working in Pune were already removed. NITES submitted a formal complaint to the Labour Commissioner, accusing TCS of illegally terminating these workers without following proper procedure or giving them fair notice.

TCS asked to respond to the Show-Cause Notice

Taking note of the complaint, Deputy Labour Commissioner Nikhil Walke issued a show-cause notice to TCS. The company has been asked to explain the reasons behind the job cuts and respond to the allegations of unlawful termination. TCS must justify its actions and provide all necessary details to the Labour Department.

As of now, TCS has not released any public statement or clarification regarding the notice or the accusations. The matter is expected to progress once the company submits its official response.
