Bihar Cabinet Formula: Nitish Kumar likely to take oath as CM on Nov 20

The current assembly will be dissolved on November 19, after which Nitish Kumar will tender his resignation to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar, as per reports. The oath-taking ceremony will likely be held on November 20, at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nitish Kumar met Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at the Raj Bhavan on Monday (November 17, 2025) and requested him to dissolve the current assembly. Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, the chief ministers of the NDA-ruled states, and other dignitaries are expected to participate in the event. The formation of the fresh government under Kumar’s leadership will pave the way for the installation of a new NDA government in the state.

New Cabinet Formation Gains Momentum

The NDA had won the 2025 state polls with a massive mandate. The process of finalizing the power structure has gained momentum ever since the Bihar assembly election results were in. According to reports, the formula for the Bihar cabinet formation was finalised earlier at a meeting with Amit Shah in Delhi. According to sources, the formula of one minister post can be applied to six MLAs. In the quota of allied parties, a total of 34 ministers are likely to get a place.
