Sharmila congratulated Rahul Gandhi for being reinstated as Lok Sabha MP.
YSRTP chief YS Sharmila will likely leave for New Delhi soon on a two-day visit and is expected to meet senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal, reports said.
The Congress party has reportedly asked Sharmila to merge her regional party YSRTP with theirs without any conditions but Sharmila is keen on fielding some of her party candidates in some constituencies in the Telangana Assembly elections. Sharmila, the daughter of late YS Raja Shekhar Reddy is also keen on contesting from Paleru constituency in the next Assembly polls.
The Congress party is reportedly insisting that she campaign for Congress candidates in Andhra Pradesh but she is reluctant to campaign against her brother and Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
This comes in the backdrop of Sharmila congratulating Rahul Gandhi for being reinstated as an MP in Lok Sabha on Tuesday while extending support to the ‘no confidence motion’ against PM Narendra Modi in Parliament.
Taking to social media platform X, she said, “While your unwavering grit continues to rekindle hopes among millions of people across the nation, justice took its course and delivered a verdict that gladdened many hearts. I am now sure your participation in the Parliamentary process will once again go a long away in voicing the concerns of the people of the nation. In this regard, I appeal to all the leaders to join hands to uphold the democracy and secularism in our country.”
