BBMP contractors seek Yediyurappa’s help to clear dues amid row with DK Shivakumar; KTR takes dig at Congress

A delegation of BBMP contractors meet BS Yediyurappa over their pending bills.

BBMP contractors had accused Deputy CM DK Shivakumar of demanding 10-15 per cent to clear their pending bills.

A day after making corruption allegations against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Contractors’ Association members met former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa at the latter’s residence in Bengaluru seeking to put pressure on the government to release their pending bills.

A delegation of BBMP contractors met Yediyurappa and explained their grievances about pending bills and sought his help to get their bills.

“We met the CM and Deputy CM but still our demands are yet to be fulfilled. We are meeting all leaders seeking their support. The BBMP Commissioner is delaying clearing our bills without any reason. We are not targeting anybody. Nobody is behind us except contractors,” BBMP Contractors Association president Manjunath said.

Contractors on Tuesday accused Shivakumar of demanding a bribe of 10-15 per cent to clear their pending bills.

Reacting to it, Shivakumar said he knows who is advising them on such matters.

“They are free to meet anyone. We are watching everything. We know who is advising them. Let there be a victory to their fight,” Shivakumar said.

Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy questioned the Congress government as to why they were targeting contractors since it was the 40 per cent allegations against BJP which had helped them come to power.

Meanwhile, Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao took a dig at the Congress govt and said ‘Scamgress and its true colours.’
