On Tuesday, the BBMP contractors association accused Deputy CM DK Shivakumar of demanding a 10 to 15 per cent commission to clear their bills.
Two days after the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Contractors’ Association made corruption allegations against Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar, the Karnataka State Contractors Association president D Kempanna has called a press conference on Friday to speak on pending bills.
For the past two days, the BBMP contractors association has met several leaders across party lines demanding their intervention to clear their pending bills.
In the letter to Governor, the association members noted that a 10-15 per cent commission was demanded from some of them on behalf of the Bengaluru Development Minister Shivakumar.
They have also met CM Siddaramaiah, Opposition leaders HD Kumaraswamy, BS Yediyurappa and Dr Ashwathnarayan.
Meanwhile, the state contractors association president D Kempanna, who made 40 per cent commission allegations against the previous BJP government has called for a press meeting to raise the issue at 11:30 am on Friday.
Several BJP leaders had questioned Kempanna over his silence on the issue.
On the other hand, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said that he is aware of people who are ‘influencing’ the contractors.
“A probe has been ordered into corruption allegations in the BBMP. Kempanna had made the allegations and he must get justice. I know who is inviting these people to Delhi to make a statement. I also know who is sending these contractors in front of the press. We have ordered the probe, if they have done their work honestly they will get justice,” Shivakumar said.
Meanwhile Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that the money will be released after the probe committee submits the report to the government.
Earlier this week, the government formed four committees to probe corruption allegations in the BBMP works during the BJP rule.
