Kalyan is in Visakhapatnam to begin the third phase of his Varahi yatra having already toured several other districts.

The Vizag police on Thursday imposed restrictions on Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan’s visit to the city. The actor-politician is set to undertake the third phase of Varahi Yatra from Visakhapatnam today.

The police have suggested that he take an alternate route through the port road from the Airport and also insisted that he should not organise a roadshow.

As part of the Varahi Yatra, the police have given permission for a meeting to be held at Jagadamba Junction in the city at 5 pm.

Police had tightened security at the airport to prevent any untoward incidents. This comes in the background of violence during Kalyan’s visit to the city in October.

His supporters had allegedly pelted stones at vehicles of a state minister and a YSRCP leader. He was also denied permits to conduct ‘Jana vani’ programmes in the city and had to leave after being restricted to his hotel room for almost two days.

However, he will be holding a ‘Jana vani’ program at Hotel Daspalla, where he will stay for the next nine days and will listen to the grievances of citizens. He is expected to hold two public meetings in the city during his stay.
