Minister KTR asks GMR airport authorities to hand over govt land to Hyderabad Metro

Telangana Minister for IT, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday held a review meeting regarding the airport metro and other metro expansion projects at Metro Rail Bhavan.

The minister said that by adding more coaches to the metro, developing better footpaths and improving feeder services, the metro ridership that is currently at 5 lakh per day can be doubled and traffic congestion can be reduced in the city.

After a presentation by HMRL MD NVS Reddy, the minister asked the GMR Airport authorities to hand over 48 acres of government land in the airport area to the HMRL for construction. He also asked the chief secretary to hold coordination meetings regularly and expedite the airport metro project.

He also asked the HMRL MD to begin surveys of the newly approved metro corridor projects and also to prepare preliminary project reports to send to the Union government.

He asked Special chief secretary Arvind Kumar and finance secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to look at different funding options for the new metro projects.
