Man Blackmails Girlfriend With Intimate Videos, Extorts Rs 2.5 Crore, Jewellery And Luxury Car News24 –
In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old woman from Bengaluru lost Rs 2.5 crore of her family’s money to her boyfriend. The woman was blackmailed with intimate videos by her boyfriend, who pressured her to give him money, jewellery, watches, and an expensive car. According to reports, the accused exploited the woman’s trust under the promise of marriage.
The accused has been identified as Mohan Kumar. The victim met Mohan during their boarding school days. They reconnected years later and began a romantic relationship after losing contact for some time. The accused had reportedly promised the woman marriage, and during their trips together, he filmed private moments, assuring her that the videos were for his personal use, NDTV reported.
However, the accused then used these intimate videos to blackmail the woman, threatening to release them online unless she transferred money to the accounts he provided. Out of fear, the woman withdrew a total of Rs 1.25 crore from her grandmother’s bank account and transferred it to him.
The victim also gave Rs 1.32 crore in cash across multiple occasions to meet his demands. As the woman began giving him money, he further forced her to hand over expensive jewellery, watches, and a car. Additionally, he transferred money into his father’s bank account several times.
After months of getting blackmailed, the woman finally mustered the courage to approach the police and filed a complaint. Mohan Kumar was arrested following the complaint.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand confirmed it as a well-planned crime and said that of the Rs 2.57 crore extorted by the accused, Rs 80 lakh has already been recovered.
