Air Quality Drops To ‘Poor’, Western Disturbance Likely To Bring Rain; Will AQI Worsen Further? News24 –

Delhi Pollution: Delhi experienced the coldest morning of the season on Saturday, with a minimum temperature of 7.1°C and an AQI of 215 recorded at 7 am. After being in the ‘moderate’ category for three days, the air quality has slipped into the ‘poor’ category for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 6 am today: Chandni Chowk (319), Ashok Vihar (290), Wajipur (305), Mundka (317), Jahangirpuri (310), Narela (272), R.K. Puram (280), Anand Vihar (338), Pusa (192), and Punjabi Bagh (279).

AQI will likely remain in the ‘poor’ category till Monday, deteriorating further to the ‘very poor’ category thereafter, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune said. A western disturbance is likely to bring rainfall to the city today, causing fluctuation between ‘very poor’ and ‘poor’ in the coming six days.

Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that Delhi might experience shallow fog in the morning hours on Sunday. This will be followed by a cloudy sky, with the temperature expected to increase marginally and plunge again starting next week.

“Due to a western disturbance, light/moderate rainfall and snowfall is predicted over the western Himalayan region from December 9 to 11. Light isolated rainfall is also likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh today. Delhi might experience mist in the night,” an IMD official said.
