Journalist and Media Association (JMA) State Conference was inaugurated by Forest and Wildlife Minister A K Saseendran

Thiruvananthapuram: The Journalist and Media Association (JMA) State Conference was inaugurated by Forest and Wildlife Minister A K Saseendran at the Thiruvananthapuram YMCA Hall. The event was presided over by JMA State President M B Divakaran.

In his address, Minister Saseendran emphasized the significant role of media in strengthening democracy. He urged journalists to focus on delivering news to the public rather than catering to corporate interests. He highlighted the growing importance of online media in providing timely news and reinforcing the media’s role as the “fourth pillar” of democracy.

Kummanam Rajasekharan praised JMA’s efforts in online journalism while releasing a souvenir. K Muraleedharan commended JMA for its dedication to truthful reporting during the logo release ceremony.

Justice Hariharan Nair discussed the challenges faced by journalists committed to truth and the responsibilities they must uphold during the media seminar. Vattiyoorkavu MLA VK Prashanth criticized the practice of selective news reporting.

JMA National President Vysakh Suresh highlighted the association’s presence in 28 states and 8 union territories, emphasizing its commitment to supporting journalists and ensuring fair working conditions. Other notable speakers included Vice President Shibu Koottumvathukkal, Secretary Krishnakumar, State Coordinator Mahi Panmana, and Thiruvananthapuram District President Suresh.
