The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has given several new benefits for women and girls in its latest budget, with the Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme being the main focus. This scheme aims to give free scooters to talented female students in the state to help them continue their education.

The scheme was announced by UP’s Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, during the budget presentation on February 20, 2025. A big budget of 400 crores has been set aside to support this initiative.

Goals of the Scheme

The main goal of the Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme is to encourage girls, especially in rural areas, to continue their education. Many girls in these areas drop out because their colleges are far away. By giving free scooters to these talented students, the UP government wants to help them keep studying without facing travel challenges.

Who Can Apply

The scheme is meant for girls from economically weaker backgrounds, especially those in rural areas. However, there are some rules to qualify for the benefits:

Academic Qualification: The scheme is for girls who are studying for an undergraduate degree in Uttar Pradesh. Only those who scored more than 75% in their 12th-grade exams can apply.

Family Income: Girls whose families earn more than 2.5 lakh rupees a year are not eligible for this scheme.

Both 12th-grade pass students and degree students can apply online.

Documents Needed

To get the free scooter, applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Proof of Age: To confirm the applicant’s age.
  • Proof of Residence: To show that the applicant lives in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Family’s Annual Income: To check if the family meets the income criteria.
  • Aadhar Card: A valid Aadhar card for identification.
  • Passport-Sized Photograph: A recent photograph.
  • Academic Documents: Marksheets from 12th grade and proof that the student is currently studying for an undergraduate degree.

These documents will help verify the eligibility of the applicants and make sure they meet the scheme’s requirements.

BJP Keeps Election Promise
