Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a pre-school teacher was arrested on charges of extorting money and blackmailing a student’s father in Bengaluru. The teacher had been in an affair with her student’s father. She was arrested by the Bengaluru Police and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The accused teacher has been identified as 25-year-old Sridevi Rudagi. City Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru arrested Rudagi and two others Ganesh Kale and Sagar for allegedly extorting Rs 4 lakh from the victim. They have also been accused of blackmailing him, with photos and videos for a further Rs 20 lakh.
Sequence Of Events
The victim has been identified as trader, residing in a western Bengaluru neighbourhood with his wife and three daughters. He had enrolled his five-year-old, the youngest kid in the school in 2023.
According to the police, he had met first Rudagi during the admission process. They both then established contact and remained in touch. Rudagi and the victim then used separate SIM cards to communicate and engaged in video calls and messages. After some time, they stared meeting also. During their meeting, Rudagi extorted Rs 4 lakh from the father of the student. She then demanded more than 15 lakh in January, 2025.
When he hesitated, Rudagi visited his home on the pretext of borrowing Rs 50,000.
Affair, Private Videos And Extortion
The victim then decided to relocate his family to Gujarat after his business suffered setbacks. For this he needed the child’s Transfer Certificate. When he went to school to get that, he found himself cornered in Rudagi’s office, with Kale and Sagar. The latter then showed him the private photographs and videos and demanded Rs 20 lakh. He blackmailed the victim, threatening to reveal the photos and videos if the amount was not paid.
The victim in his complaint, stated that he tried to reason with them and negotiated a payment of Rs 15 lakh. He initially transferred Rs 1.9 lakh, but their demands continued. The series didn’t end here and Rudagi called him on March 17 and reminded him of the payment – Rs 5 lakh for a former police officer, and Rs 1 lakh each for Sagar and Kale, and the remaining Rs 8 lakh for her. Rudagi also intimidated the victim by making false claims about her strong connections with a police official.
The father of the child called the police after he was unable to bear the torture. Based on his complaint, police launched investigation into the case and arrested three of them. It was further found that the police officer had no connection with Rudagi.
