Husband Hits Pregnant Wife With Cement Bricks In Public, Video Sparks Outrage News24 –

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was brutally attacked with cement bricks in public, by her husband. The police stated that her husband was arrested on Monday, stated the police. A video of the incident has gone viral and triggered widespread outrage. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Gachibowli Police Station of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on the night of April 1. However, the incident came into light on Monday after the footage went viral. In the video, the man can been seen attacking his pregnant wife with brick and stick. The brutal attack left the woman critically injured.

The accused has been identified as 32-year-old Mohd Basrath, an interior designer. He married 22-year-old Shabana Parveen, a native of Kolkata, in October 2024. The couple had met in Ajmer, Rajasthan in 2023 during a shared auto ride. They both fell in love and married in 2024.

Shabana moved to Hyderabad after marriage, but the couple began facing family issues. It is reported that at Parveen’s insistence, Basrath moved out of his parent’s house and started living separately in a rented house. However, things changed between them, as the couple engaged in frequent fights.

What Happened On April 1?

On March 29, Parveen complained of weakness and vomiting. She was admitted to a private hospital where she reportedly told a hospital staff that her husband had been abusing her. She was discharged on April 1.

While returning home from the hospital, the couple had an argument as she refused to go home with Basrath. This made Basrath angry and he pushed her onto the road. He dragged her, abused her and attacked her multiple times. He grabbed a brick from the road and hit her several times on the head.

He then fled from the spot thinking Parveen had died. A Hospital staff identified her and rescued her. The Gachibowli police arrived at the spot and shifted her to the hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

The accused was apprehended on the night of April 2 and produced before a local court on April 3.

The viral video has sparked outrage on social media. Netizens have bashed the accused and demanded strict action against him.
