IMD Issues Heatwave Alert In National Capital, Temperatures To Hit 42°C, Precaution Advised News24 –


Delhi-NCR is set to experience mainly clear skies over the next couple of days, with temperatures gradually rising. According to the IMD, April 14 and 15 will remain largely clear, with maximum temperatures hovering between 38°C to 41°C and minimums around 21°C to 24°C. However, from April 16 onward, the region is likely to see a spike in heat, with partly cloudy skies and heatwave conditions expected in isolated areas. Maximum temperatures are forecasted to touch 40°C to 42°C, indicating the onset of more intense summer heat.

Delhi-NCR weather

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that Delhi will experience primarily clear skies on April 14, with a maximum temperature likely to be between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius and a minimum between 21 to 23 degrees Celsius. On April 15, the clear weather will continue with max temperatures expected to be slightly above average — the maximum likely between 39 to 41 degrees Celsius and a minimum between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD’s bulletin.

Delhi Heatwave

Delhi is expected to begin the day on April 16 under mainly clear skies which will start becoming partly cloudy by the evening. Heatwave conditions are predicted to prevail in isolated regions. Maximum temperatures will remain in the high range of 40s to 42°C and minimums between 23°C to 25°C.

Precautionary Measures

1. Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m.

2. Drink sufficient water and as often as possible, even if not thirsty

3. Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose, and porous cotton clothes. Use protective goggles, umbrella/hat, shoes or chappals while going out in sun.

4. Avoid strenuous activities when the outside temperature is high. Avoid working outside between 12 noon and 3 p.m.

5. While travelling, carry water with you.

    Past Weather Update

    1. There has been no large change in minimum temperatures and maximum temperatures over Delhi during the past 24 hours.

    2. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures are in the range of 36 to 37 and 19 to 21°C respectively. The minimum temperatures were near normal and maximum temperatures are near normal over most places over Delhi.

    3. Partly cloudy sky. Easterly/South easterly winds speed up to 20 kmph prevailed over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours.
