Delhi-NCR is experiencing higher-than-average temperatures – there is a heat wave currently being forecast for some localised pockets of Delhi-NCR. Maximum temperatures in Delhi-NCR are forecast for between 39°C to 41°C; minimum temperatures are expected to occur between 23°C to 26°C; and both the maximums and minimums are currently at above average levels.
Over the next week, temperatures will gradually trend downward around April 19-21, followed by a gradual upward trend afterwards. In general, the region has generally been defined as having partly cloudy skies and southeasterly winds. This prevailing weather pattern suggests that residents of the region should be careful over the following days and weeks taking special care in the afternoons when temperatures and UV will be elevated.

No large change in maximum temperatures during the next two days and fall by 02-04°C during the next three days and rise by 02-03°C thereafter.
Delhi Heatwave
Delhi is expected to begin the day on April 17 under mainly clear skies which will start becoming partly cloudy by the evening. Heatwave conditions are predicted to prevail in isolated regions. Maximum temperatures will remain in the high range of 39°C to 40°C and minimums between 23°C to 25°C.

Precautionary Measures
1. Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m.
2. Drink sufficient water and as often as possible, even if not thirsty
3. Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose, and porous cotton clothes. Use protective goggles, umbrella/hat, shoes or chappals while going out in the sun.
4. Avoid strenuous activities when the outside temperature is high. Avoid working outside between 12 noon and 3 p.m.
5. While travelling, carry water with you.
Past Weather
1. There has been a rise in minimum temperatures and slight rise in maximum temperatures over Delhi during the past 24 hours.
2. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures are in the range of 40 to 41°C and 25 to 26°C respectively.
3. The minimum temperatures were above normal by 2-4°C and maximum temperatures were above normal by 3-4°C over most places over Delhi.
4. Partly cloudy sky. South easterly winds speed up to 11 kmph prevailed over Delhi during the past 24 hours.
