BJP Picks Raja Iqbal Singh, Jai Bhagwan Yadav As Candidates News24 –

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially announced its mayoral candidates for the Delhi capital mayor election process. The BJP finalized its candidates for the mayor and deputy mayor positions on the final nomination day, which occurred on Monday. The BJP selected Raja Iqbal Singh for the mayor position, and Jai Bhagwan Yadav for the post of deputy mayor.

At this moment, Raja Iqbal serves as the Leader of the Opposition. Raja Iqbal Singh has served as the Mayor of North Delhi while having held this role since he also led North City previously as head administrator. From 2017 to 2018, he held positions first as Chairman of Civil Lines Zone, then as Zone Chairman. Jai Bhagwan Yadav is currently the leader of opposition (LoP) at MCD Assembly.

After this, he assumed the position of Mayor of North Delhi in 2021. It has been reported that Raja Iqbal has been serving as the Leader of Opposition since 2023. He has now secured a win in the councilor elections for the second time. Notably, he is continuing the political legacy of his father-in-law, who was elected councilor from this seat three times. Meanwhile, the Congress party is expected to announce its candidate soon, along with a potential nominee for the deputy mayor’s post. An informal alliance between AAP and Congress is likely to take shape in the MCD.”
