The Noida unit of the Special Task Force (STF) has recently busted a gang that defrauded the NEET-UG aspirants. On Sunday, the Police said that the accused lured students by demanding money to ‘facilitate’ them to pass the exams. Three involved, identified as Vikram Kumar Sahu, Dharmpal Singh, and Aniket Kumar, were arrested from Noida Sector-3 on Saturday.
Gang Demanded Rs 5 Lakh Per Aspirant
All three accused were residents of Delhi. The gang was running an office under the name of Shreyanvi EDU OPC PVT LTD, located at Sector-3. During the raid, the authorities seized a total of 10 mobile phones, students’ data, cheque books, a Fortuner car, and Aadhaar and PAN Cards from them. The gang cheated students by demanding Rs 5 lakh per person under the pretext of getting them passed. The money was accepted through bank transfer and or PDC.
Accused Claims To Manipulate OMR Sheets
The gang instructed aspirants to fill in only the answers that they were sure of during the exam in the OMR sheet, and leave the rest blank. They claimed to manipulate the OMR Sheets later. If the candidate secured admission, they used to keep the money; however, in case of failure, they would flee or stall repayment.
