Zepto Responds After Bengaluru Man Allegedly Attacked By Delivery Agent News24 –

The Bengaluru businessman has suffered a skull fracture after an apparent assault by a Zepto delivery agent after an argument over an address mismatch. The incident, which happened on Wednesday in Basaveshwaranagar, has led to a police case being registered against the accused delivery agent, identified as Vishnuvardhan.

Details About The Incident

According to reports, the customer, Shashank S (30), stated that the argument began when his sister-in-law attempted to collect a grocery order at the gate but noticed a mismatch in the delivery address. An argument started between the two, which escalated when Shashank intervened. He claims that Vishnuvardhan verbally abused him and then physically attacked him, and punched him again and again in the face and head before running out of the scene.

Shashank later went for medical treatment and was diagnosed with a skull fracture. Doctors have indicated that surgery might be necessary if his condition does not improve within a week. He has shared details of the alleged assault, including CCTV footage, on social media, urging Zepto to take responsibility.

Zepto’s Reaction

According to a report by Hindustan Times, reacting to the incident, a Zepto spokesperson called the episode “shocking and unacceptable,” adding, “Professional conduct and customer safety are non-negotiable at Zepto. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will ensure that appropriate action is taken against the individual involved.”

Police Complaint

The police have registered a case against Vishnuvardhan under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An investigation into the matter is currently underway. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of customers during doorstep deliveries and the conduct of delivery personnel in the burgeoning quick-commerce sector.
