Concerns over the coronavirus have resurfaced in Maharashtra after the death of a 21-year-old man in Thane, near Mumbai, just 24 hours after contracting Covid-19. The incident occurred in the Mumbra area of Thane, where the young man was admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in a critical state. Doctors reported that he was already in a serious condition due to type-1 diabetes, high blood sugar. Upon admission, he tested positive for COVID, and he passed away the following morning.

Health Department data reports that Mumbai alone saw 35 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, out of the total 45 cases reported in Maharashtra. Already, 210 cases are active in the state, with 6819 people having been tested since January. Most people who got infected have recovered, but three have lost their lives.

I the last three days, 19 new COVID-19 patients have been found in Thane city. Out of these, 17 have been home quarantined, and one has been admitted to a private hospital. Although the municipal corporations are in alert mode, no high-level review meeting has been held by the state health department so far.

According to Sandeep Malvi, who works at Thane Municipal Corporation, the youth had very serious symptoms when he first arrived at the hospital. Because of his coronavirus infection, his illness worsened, and he passed away.

This incident has once again made it clear that taking the coronavirus lightly can still be dangerous. Both the health department and common citizens need to be vigilant.
