Hydroponic Marijuana Worth Rs 8.6 Crore Seized At Mumbai Airport; 3 Arrested News24 –

Mumbai: In a major crackdown, the Customs Department has recently seized hydroponic marijuana worth Rs 8.6 crore at Mumbai Airport. This recovery was made through two separate cases, in which three Indian passengers were arrested. According to News24 reporter Vinod Jagdale, all the accused had returned to Mumbai from Bangkok.

Action Taken Based On intelligence Information

Mumbai Customs Zone-III Officials had received intelligence input that some passengers may bring prohibited drugs. Based on the input, vigilance was increased at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on June 2 and 3. On June 3, two passengers aboard Mumbai flight number SL218 and one aboard VZ760 were stopped by Customs officials at Mumbai Airport. During interrogation, all three passengers appeared suspicious, following which their luggage was thoroughly scanned.

High-quality Marijuana Found In The Bag

A total of 8.6 kg of hydroponic marijuana was recovered from their bag during the investigation. Reports added that this ganja, worth Rs 8.6 crore in the international market, was grown using advanced technology. All three passengers were arrested on the spot under the NDPS Act, 1985. At present, the accused are being questioned, and an investigation related to the drug smuggling network is underway.
