A 26-year-old woman was allegedly beheaded by her husband following an argument over an extramarital affair in the Bengaluru outskirts on Saturday, police said, adding that the suspect was arrested when he was transporting her head to dump in an isolated place on Friday night.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Manasa, a resident of Karnataka, Hebbagodi. She was married to a man called Shankar around five years ago, and the couple have a three-year-old daughter. On Saturday, when Manasa was trying to sort out a dispute with her husband, a dispute took place, and he beheaded her using a sharp-edged weapon, police said.
When Shankar was transporting her on his scooter, cops conducting a check stopped him as they found blood on his shirt. Upon investigation, when the suspect failed to give satisfactory answers, they investigated and were shocked to find the woman’s head on the scooter’s footrest.
Investigation revealed that Shankar and Manasa had been in dispute for some time after he found that she was in an extramarital affair. Following the dispute, Shankar asked her to leave. “But after spending some time with her male friend, when Manasa, who was missing her daughter, tried to sort out the dispute with Shankar, a fight broke out and she was killed,” said an officer. A case of murder under section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at a local police station in Bengaluru, and further investigation is underway.
