Wife Drugs Husband, Electrocutes Him With Lover’s Help In Delhi; Fakes Natural Death — Gets Caught After Her Google Search Surfaces News24 –
A chilling murder plot has stunned Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, where a wife, aided by her lover, killed her husband and staged it as a natural death. Karan Dev, a 36-year-old man, was allegedly drugged with sleeping pills and electrocuted in a calculated act of betrayal, later uncovered by police.
On July 13, 2025, Karan Dev, a 36-year-old man, was rushed to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, where his family believed he suffered an accidental electrocution. Karan breathed his last in the hospital. However, the family believed it to be a natural death, and they requested no post-mortem. Sushmita and her lover, who was also Karan’s cousin, opposed Karan’s post-mortem. However, police grew suspicious of the circumstances and Karan’s young age, prompting an inquiry. On July 16, Karan’s younger brother, Kunal, approached Uttam Nagar Police with doubts about the cause of death, triggering a full-scale investigation that uncovered foul play by Karan’s wife and her lover.
The Plot According To The Police
Kunal told police he suspected Sushmita was having an affair with their cousin, Rahul, and provided Instagram chats as evidence, revealing their murder plot. Police investigations exposed a chilling conspiracy by Sushmita and her lover to kill Karan Dev. Sushmita confessed to mixing 13 to 15 sleeping pills into Karan’s dinner to render him unconscious. Recovered chats showed the duo searched online for “time of death after 15 sleeping pills” before carrying out the plan. After drugging Karan, they waited until 5 a.m. to ensure he was in a deep sleep, then electrocuted him.
According to police, Sushmita recorded a video confession alleging that Karan slapped and verbally abused her the day before Karva Chauth. She further claimed he frequently harassed her for money.
