Kolkata Metro Holds Trial Run On Airport-Noapara Stretch; Check Route And Key Details News24 –

The Kolkata Metro undertook a trial run from Airport to Noapara metro stations to facilitate increased regional accessibility. In briefing dimensions, the officials emphasised that introducing metro operational activity on the yellow line will improve connectivity between airport access and other areas of the City. The operational activity will yield relief to residents in several parts of the City, including reductions in travel time and the detriment of traffic congestion.

A spokesperson of the Kolkata Metro reported that during the first trial run of the rail travel connection to the airport, the General Manager of Metro Railway, P. Uday Kumar Reddy, was present. The spokesperson stated that the trial run was successful and no delays are expected in the operation, ET Infra reported. Uday Kumar Reddy was also present at the Jai Hind Biman Bandar Metro station, where he provided key instructions to the designated officials on site.

“This stretch, once commissioned, would be a revolutionary step in providing a modern transport system to the people of Kolkata and suburbs to reach the airport,”  the spokesperson told ET Infra. Officials also said that the first trial run on the route was successfully conducted on January 25. Outlining the details, the authorities stated that the total distance between Noapara and Bimanbandar is over 7 km. Earlier, on July 21, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) had completed a survey of the 1.6 km extension of the Purple Line from Esplanade to Eden Gardens.

The survey was undertaken with clearance from the Raj Bhavan. Agencies generally do not require the Governor’s approval, but in this instance, a small stretch will pass along the edge of the Raj Bhavan lawns before crossing over to the opposite flank, where the fifth underground station of the corridor is envisioned.
