A shocking incident has raised serious questions about the vigilance exercised over private tuition teachers. A Mumbai-based tuition teacher allegedly tried to burn her student’s hands for his poor handwriting.
According to reports, the tutor punished the student by holding his hands over a candle flame. The accused has been identified as Rajshree Rathod.
The incident happened at the teacher’s establishment in Malad East, Gokuldham, Film City. A case has been registered against Rajshree Rathod at the Kurar Police Station.
The victim, an 8-year-old Mohammad Hamza Khan, went to attend his tuition as usual. Around 9 p.m., as reported by the victim’s mother, the tuition teacher informed her that Hamza was not feeling well and should be taken home.
The family noticed that Hamza was crying. Upon reaching home, they saw the scalding burn marks on his palms. He was taken to the hospital for medical aid.
Once the incident was reported to the Kurar Police, suspect Rajshree Rathod was booked under the relevant IPC sections. The police launched a probe into the matter and issued a notice to the tutor.
