The Delhi Police arrested a mother-daughter duo on charges of theft on August 12.
Both accused had allegedly stolen gold and silver in melted form. They were arrested from Dwarka District in Delhi by a team of personnel from Bindapur Police Station. The police team recovered 5.23 grams of melted gold and 589.15 grams of melted silver.
The arrests were made after a probe was launched against a complaint filed on August 1. According to NDTV, the online e-FIR No. 80071435/25, U/s-305 BNS, was received at the Bindapur Police Station, following which a police team reached the spot for investigation.
The complainant, a resident of Shrichand Park, Matiala, stated that unknown persons stole the jewellery, after which she lodged the above-said e-FIR.
During the investigation, the police team visited the spot and checked CCTV footage of the area , and nearby places. After checking the CCTV cameras installed outside the house, no person was seen entering or exiting the premises. This further mystified the police, as there were no signs of forced entry.
Further, the police found no broken doors or locks. After this, the tenants living in the house were interrogated sternly. Following the interrogation, the police revealed that the mother and daughter duo admitted they had entered the house by passing through the ventilator shaft and committed the theft. The stolen jewelry was then sold at a local shop.
The police soon recovered the jewellery that was sold at the local shop. Ms. Pinki, aged 42, and Ms. Poonam, 22, are both Delhi’s Uttam Nagar residents.
