In a shocking incident that took place on Saturday, a 35-year-old woman was left severely injured after being attacked by a stray dog. The woman, identified as Gangubai, was left bleeding profusely after the dog pounced on her as soon as she walked out of the washroom. The incident occurred on the premises of Gubbi Court in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district.
Gangubai, a resident of Beerasandra village, had visited the court in connection with a family dispute case, according to reports. While attempting to escape, the dog repeatedly attacked her, tearing parts of her face. As she screamed out loudly, some locals rushed to free her from the grip of the stray animal.
The stray dog was later chased and killed by the enraged people, reports added. Meanwhile, the woman was initially taken to the Tumkur’s Gubbi Taluk Hospital for receiving medical treatment but was later shifted to Bengaluru city for advanced care.
In a separate incident that took place last month, a mentally ill woman was mauled to death by a group of street dogs in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. The 45-year-old woman, who was a resident of Piyara village, was going to the fields when the dogs bit and tore off her neck, head, and face. She died on the spot.
According to Mitauli SHO Shivaji Dubey, the woman was severely injured after being bitten by a pack of dogs. “The family refused a postmortem examination and did not file a police complaint. Nagar Panchayat officials have been asked to catch and relocate the stray dogs involved,” she said.
