In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old working professional died of cardiac arrest only a few minutes after texting his boss about taking sick leave in Bengaluru.
This incident has left his co-workers and friends shocked. His manager, KV Iyyer, recently wrote about the incident in a post on X, which has gone viral.
In his post, he remembered the employee on his team, named Shankar, had texted him saying that he had severe back pain, and therefore could not come to the office.
Iyyer wrote, “At 8:37 am, Shankar messaged me: ‘Sir, due to severe back pain I am unable to come today. Please grant me leave.’ I thought it was routine and replied, ‘Ok, take rest.
He said that he received a call regarding news of Shankar’s death hours later. Recalling the unbelievable situation at that time, he said, Initially, I didn’t believe it. I called another co-worker to confirm it and went to his home. By the time I got there, he was gone.”
The post has now gone viral, and condolences are flooding in the comment section. Some offer prayers for the peace of Shankar’s soul; others mention how fragile life is.
Iyyer also commented about Shankar’s healthy lifestyle, noting he was fit, did not smoke, did not drink, was married and had one child. He noted that Shankar had worked in his team for six years.
“He suffered a cardiac arrest. What is unbelievable is that he texted me at 8:37 am and passed away at 8:47 am. A man was fully conscious just 10 minutes before his last breath. I am completely shaken,” he wrote.
Iyyer underscored the unpredictable nature of life at the end of his post, saying, “Life is unpredictable. Be kind to those around you and live happily, because you never know what the next minute holds.”
