In the DUSU elections, ABVP emerged victorious, winning three key seats, including the president’s post. Aryan Maan of ABVP defeated NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary to become the new president of Delhi University Students’ Union, while NSUI managed to secure just one seat.

NSUI candidate for Vice President, Rahul Jhansla, registered a major win DUSU election. ABVP won three major positions, but NSUI got one of the seats.

Who Is Rahul Jhansla?

NSUI candidate Rahul Jhansala’s website describes him as an active student leader who has consistently worked on issues related to student rights, youth empowerment, and university campuses.

He completed his undergraduate studies from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Delhi University, and is pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree between 2022 and 2024, as stated on his LinkedIn profile. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies. Jhansala led several important movements and hunger strikes on campus, highlighting issues such as hostel cleanliness and sports facilities. His leadership in organizing student movements attracted the attention of the university administration.

His manifesto includes several key demands related to academic reforms and student welfare.
Prominent among these are: opposition to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the provision of 12 days of menstrual leave per semester, transparency in the examination process, the introduction of smart classrooms, and improvements in hostel facilities.

Additionally, they promise to establish functional counseling centers, expand scholarships, and improve transportation services.

For female students, the manifesto mentions measures such as sanitary vending machines, legal aid, a 24×7 emergency response mechanism, gender sensitization workshops, and improved security infrastructure in colleges.
