Mumbai teen dies by suicide, police rescue girlfriend in time after she attempts to end life News24 –

Mumbai: In a shocking incident that took place in Powai, a 19-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide on Saturday. Things, however, took a dramatic turn when Mumbai Police intervened in time to save a girl who tried to attempt suicide. According to reports, the girl, alleged to be in a relationship with the deceased, tried to take her own life after learning of her boyfriend’s death

The deceased, identified as a resident of Mahatma Phule Nagar, was reportedly found hanging inside his home around 2.30 pm. He was immediately taken to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar (East) for medical assistance. The doctors, however, declared him dead upon arrival.

The deceased and his 19-year-old girlfriend lived in the same neighborhood. Reports added that the deceased’s relatives allegedly abused the girl, following which she locked herself in her house. Distressed by the situation, she attempted to take her own life by hanging self. Beat Marshal Police Constable Thokal and Beat Special Sasane, working with Parksite Police Station, took prompt action and saved the girl’s life.

As per reports, the cops broke open the door and rushed the girl to the hospital, where medical experts confirmed that she is alive. A case of accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at Parksite police station. A probe is underway into the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
