Free Travel for Women: Delhi Government BIG Initiatives, Pink Card Facility for Bus Travellers to Kickstart from THIS Date
Delhi: Female bus riders who are waiting for their Pink Card may be eligible for this service starting on Bhai Dooj. When they take the bus, they will receive Pink Cards rather than Pink Tickets. The transport department has been directed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to proceed with this project as soon as possible.
The Pink Ticket program, which allows women to travel for free on DTC buses, was launched on Bhaiya Dooj in 2019. Plans are currently in motion to switch to digital cards in place of the tickets. A government official from Delhi stated that plans are in motion to introduce it on Bhaiya Dooj.
With the Pink Card’s lifetime validity, women will have greater freedom to use public transportation whenever they want. Prior to use, DTC’s Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) must be used to activate the card. DTC won’t be issuing cards directly.
The DTC portal will be used for all online registration, and cards won’t be provided until a chosen bank has completed KYC verification. Women passengers will be able to travel freely and conveniently on Delhi government buses thanks to the new initiative, which will replace the former paper-based ticketing system with a permanent, customized transit pass. To obtain the smart card, applicants must be legitimate Delhi residents.
The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is a public-sector passenger road transport company that operates bus services in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. DTC has the most electric buses in India and is the biggest CNG-powered bus service provider globally as of November 2023. The three Delhi Interstate Bus Terminals (Kashmere Gate ISBT, Anand Vihar ISBT, and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT) and 37 depots are where it runs.
