Residents of Jagatpur Village in Delhi Spend the Night in Fear After a Leopard Attacks; Forest Department Sets Up a Cage News24 –


Delhi News: A leopard has killed another calf in Jagatpur village. The incident was reported to the forest department by villagers on Monday afternoon. This village is situated near the Yamuna Biodiversity Park. After the horrifying incident, the forest department has issued another warning and installed a cage in the village. The villagers has previously expressed its fear of leopards. As a result, residents in the area spend their nights terrified of the leopard.

The villagers reportedly discovered a dead calf lying in a pool of blood when they brought their animals to the fields. There were evidence of cattle being dragged and leopard footprints in the field. In order to study the footprints, a team from the forest department also went to the location on Tuesday and took pictures.

The possible presence of leopards had prompted the Forest Department to monitor the area in the past. Here, leopard footprints were found, and a cage was established, but the leopard was never captured.

Leopards have been spotted in Delhi, especially in the nearby areas of the Aravali range and Yamuna Biodiversity Park. Locals in Jagatpur village reported seeing a leopard in October 2025, which made them fearful. Residents should keep themselves informed and notify the forest department of any sightings in order to prevent conflict.
