Aurangabad Railway Station: History and Significance
The railway station in Aurangabad opened in 1900. Mir Osman Ali Khan, the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, created it. Godavari Valley Railway Company was established under the Nizam’s Guaranteed State Railway by His Highness Nizam. Work started in 1876 under the rule of the sixth Nizam, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan. The first line was built to connect Bezwada and Hyderabad.
Nizam’s Guaranteed Railway was nationalized and combined with India Railway in 1950. The Secunderabad–Manmad line’s 94-meter gauge construction was finished in 1992. Indian Railways converted the Nizam railway line to wide gauge in 2004.
Aurangabad Railway Station: A1 Category Train Station
The Aurangabad railway station is part of the South-Central Railway’s Nanded Sub-Division. It is located between the Hazur Sahib Nanded station (South Central Railway line) and Manmad Junction (Central Railway). The sole station in the Nanded division with an A1 category rating. Three of its five platforms are dedicated to passenger services.

With an average speed of 63 km/h, the Hazur Sahib Nanded-Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express is now the fastest train that connects it to Mumbai.
