Fake birth certificates in the names of dead voters? Suvendu Adhikari targets Mamata Banerjee, files Complaint to Chief Electoral Officer News24 –
Bengal News Update: The Statewide Special Intensive Revision of the Electoral Roll (SIR) commenced on Tuesday. The Commission’s Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have begun distributing enumeration forms door to door. On the same day, West Bengal’s Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari filed a number of complaints with the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). He claimed that fake birth certificates are allegedly being produced for submission alongside the enumeration form. Suvendu claims Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is preparing the certificate using the names of deceased voters.
Suvendu Meets CEO in Bengal
Suvendu was accompanied by general secretary Jagannath Chatterjee and state BJP vice president Sanjay Singh to the CEO’s office on Tuesday. A three-member BJP team met with state CEO Manoj Agarwal. Suvendu filed a complaint with him over the fake birth certificate row. According to the commission, Suvendu has been informed that all documentation provided along with the enumeration form would be reviewed.
Fake Birth Certificate Against Deceased
Suvendu claimed that the process of faking the essential documents, including the SIR form, has begun. The Leader of the Opposition stated, “IPAC was preparing these documents. The Trinamool Congress, which rules the state, has been involved in document fabrication.” Suvendu claimed that he alerted the CEO about the situation. He also provided a fake birth certificate. The Leader of the Opposition also claimed, “birth certificates were being issued in the names of deceased voters. Most of the frauds take place in North and South 24 Parganas and Cooch Behar.”
Suvendu Demands List of BLOs
Suvendu insisted that the Commission’s website provide a list of every BLO in the state. The list was requested from political parties as well. According to Suvendu, not just the BLOs’ names but also the positions they hold. He alleged that Anganwadi workers were designated as BLOs by the BDO. Suvendu said, “There were accusations against many BLOs,” referring to Bihar. “Some of them are jailed. BLOs will be held accountable if they commit errors.” Trinamool cadres were allegedly watching the SIR procedure, according to the BJP. They urged the commission to act appropriately. However, Suvendu says he has been reassured of this by the CEO.

It should be mentioned that many people desire to submit their birth certificates to the Commission in order to maintain their names on the voter list. That’s why so many people are attempting to obtain their birth certificates. Suvendu claimed that the Trinamool is taking advantage of the situation.
