Platform Ticket Ban: In a significant development, the Indian Railways has temporarily suspended Platform ticket sales at four railway stations in Delhi. The move is aimed at controlling the passenger flow and ensuring safe boarding and deboarding at busy stations. The Northern Railway (NR) zone has implemented the measure to oversee passenger movement in the Delhi Division.
Who Can Still Purchase A Platform Ticket?
The ban on the sale of the platform ticket will remain in effect until November 11, 2025. Despite the suspension, the ticket will be issued to ailing passengers, senior citizens, Illiterates, ladies, and those who require special assistance.
Which Delhi Stations Are Facing Ban?
Restrictions are imposed in the following railway stations in the national capital:
- New Delhi railway station
- Delhi railway station
- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Anand Vihar Halt
Holding Area Built To Accommodate 7,000 Passengers
Meanwhile, the Northern Railway zone has finished the construction of a permanent holding area at New Delhi railway station. The holding area was opened for commercial purposes and has been built towards the Ajmeri Gate to ensure smooth passenger flow amid the festive rush. The center can accommodate approximately 7,000 passengers at any moment.
