Bihar New Cabinet: As the new Bihar government has been sworn in, attention has shifted to the ministers who are now part of the cabinet. According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), 88% of the ministers — 21 out of 24 — are crorepatis. Find out who is the richest and who has the least wealth in the cabinet.

ADR and Bihar Election Watch released their report on Friday after studying the affidavits of 24 out of 27 ministers, including the Chief Minister, who contested the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. These affidavits are available on the Election Commission’s website. According to the report, Rama Nishad, elected from Aurai, has the highest wealth of Rs 31.86 crore. Sanjay Kumar, elected from Bakhri, has the lowest wealth of Rs 22.30 lakh. ADR released the report based on affidavits.
Who Is the Richest? Party-Wise Breakdown
Bihar New Cabinet: In Bihar’s newly formed cabinet, 88% (21) of ministers are crorepatis. Of the 24 ministers whose wealth was analysed, 11 out of 13 from the BJP, 8 out of 8 from the JDU, 1 out of 1 from the HAM, and 1 out of 2 from the LJP-Ram Vilas Paswan party are crorepatis. The average wealth of the ministers is Rs 5.32 crore.
The assets of JDU’s Ashok Choudhary, BJP’s Dr Pramod Kumar Chandravanshi, and RLSP’s Deepak Prakash were not included in the analysis. Deepak Prakash is not a member of either House. The report says that 13 BJP ministers have an average wealth of ₹6.91 crore. Eight JDU ministers have an average of ₹3.19 crore. Two LJP–Ram Vilas Paswan ministers have an average of ₹3.76 crore, and one HAM minister has assets worth ₹4.66 crore.
Rama Nishad has the highest assets, Sanjay Paswan has the lowest
Rama Nishad, elected from Aurai, has the highest assets of 31.86 crore rupees. Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar, elected from Bakhri, has the lowest assets of ₹22.30 lakh. According to the report, 63 per cent (15) of the ministers have also declared their liabilities. Vijay Kumar Sinha, elected from Lakhisarai, has the highest liabilities of ₹82.33 lakh.
Criminal cases filed against 46 per cent of Ministers
Bihar New Cabinet: According to the ADR, 46 per cent (11) of the ministers have criminal cases filed against them. Meanwhile, 38 per cent (9) of the ministers have serious criminal cases filed against them. Of these, 6 out of 13 BJP ministers have criminal cases filed against them, and 6 have serious criminal cases filed against them. Two out of 8 JDU ministers have criminal cases, and 1 has a serious criminal case; one HAM minister has criminal and serious criminal cases, both LJP-Ram Vilas Paswan ministers have criminal cases, and one of them has serious criminal cases.
Bihar Cabinet: Age-Wise Report
Bihar New Cabinet: The report says that 79% of the ministers, or 19 of them, are between 51 and 80 years old, while 21% or five ministers, are between 30 and 50 years old. It also shows that 15 ministers, or 63%, have a graduate degree or higher. Eight ministers, or 33%, have studied up to Class 10–12, and one minister holds a diploma. Women make up 11% of the new cabinet, with only three women ministers, even though there are 27 women MLAs in the Assembly.
