Pankaja Munde’s PA, Anant Garje Arrest: Mumbai Police has arrested Anant Garje, personal assistant to Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde, after his wife, 28-year-old dentist Gauri Garje, died by suicide at their Worli residence on Saturday night. The arrest came hours after an FIR for abetment of suicide was filed against Garje, his brother Ajay and sister Sheetal. They are accused of harassment and marital discord. Anant’s wife, Gauri Garje, died under suspicious circumstances, which Anant claimed was a suicide. However, Gauri’s parents claimed it was a murder.
About the Case
According to the Mumbai police, Gauri Palve Garje was a doctor working at KEM Hospital in Mumbai. She suddenly left home around 1 pm on Saturday, and news of her death came in the evening. Anant and Gauri were married nine months ago, but Gauri’s father claims that Anant was having an affair with another woman, causing Gauri to suffer from mental stress. There are also reports that Gauri also intercepted Anant’s chats with another woman, leading to arguments between them. Gauri’s family also claimed that she was being harassed by her in-laws. They believe that Gauri committed suicide due to the mental torture and harassment.
Allegations of murder and hanging the body
Gauri’s father has claimed that the police are treating the case as a suicide. However, he said that he believed that Anant and his family murdered Gauri and hanged her body to make it appear like a suicide. Gauri’s family wanted the police to investigate the angles of murder, domestic violence, and illicit relationships.
Police case against Anant Garje and his family
After recording statements from Gauri’s family, the police registered a case against her husband, Anant Garje, Sheetal Garje-Andhale, and her brother-in-law, Ajay Garje, under IPC sections 108, 85, 352, and 351(2). All three have been charged with harassment, causing dishonour, and abetment to suicide.
