Ghaziabad news: A major revelation has been made in the investigation into the murder of retired Indian Air Force officer Yogesh Kumar. The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday stated that the crime was orchestrated by Kumar’s own sons, who reportedly hired contract killers to carry out the crime. The retired IAF officer was shot by two unidentified bikers on December 26 in Loni area of Ghaziabad district.

The 58-year-old officer had been attempting to get his sons to vacate his house, and authorities say the murder was allegedly motivated by greed for his property. On December 26, when he was walking towards the Delhi-Saharanpur road around 12:40 pm, two miscreants on a bike fired shot at him, which struck his head. The man was on call during the incident. He was critically injured and was declared dead upon his arrival at the hospital, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Loni Siddhartha Gautam stated.

What did police reveal?

According to officials, Kumar’s two sons hired a neighbour, 32-year-old, Arvind as a contract killer. Arvind, along with his brother-in-law Naveen, a constable posted in Kaushambi district, is reported to have carried out the shooting. Arvind was arrested on Wednesday evening and produced before the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Ghaziabad on Thursday.

During the interrogation, he admitted that he and his brother-in-law committed the fatal shooting. Investigating officials also recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges and used cartridges from his possession. The UP constable and Kumar’s two sons are absconding, and efforts to nab them are underway, the police added.
