118 flights cancelled, 18 diverted, 200+ delayed

Delhi has been engulfed by dense fog for the second consecutive day this week, severely affecting flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The thick smog has caused major disruptions, with 118 flights cancelled, 18 diverted, and over 200 facing delays on Tuesday, December 30.

Poor visibility at the runway has impacted both arrivals and departures, leading to widespread travel chaos for passengers. According to Delhi Airport, 60 arrivals, 58 departures cancelled and 16 diversions were reported at 10 am. The Airport Authority of India also issued an advisory warning of potential flight delays at select airports in Northern India due to prevailing fog in the region.

The airport authority advised passengers to stay in close contact with their respective airlines through official communication channels for the latest flight updates. In a post on X, AAI stated, “Due to prevailing fog conditions today, 30 December 2025, visibility levels across Northern India have reduced at select airports. This may impact flight operations, including possible delays. Passengers are advised to stay in close contact with their respective airlines through official communication channels for the latest flight updates. Travellers should also plan their journeys accordingly by allowing additional time for airport arrival and check-in procedures.”

Earlier at 7 am, Delhi Airport issued an advisory, stating that flight operations were running smoothly following an improvement in visibility as fog started clearing. “Flight operations are running smoothly as visibility at the airport has improved. Please be assured that our on-ground officials are available across terminals to assist passengers and provide necessary support.
