As air pollution continues to choke Delhi-NCR, with residents struggling to breathe, an innovative initiative in Sector 48, Gurgaon, is drawing attention. The society is using ‘artificial rain’ to settle dust and reduce pollution levels and tackle the worsening air quality crisis. While the measure may not be a permanent solution, it offers temporary but visible relief from smog.

Gurgaon society’s ‘artificial rain’ method goes viral

The video has been shared on Instagram by a user, highlighting an artificial rain system used by a luxury housing society in Gurgaon to tackle severe air pollution. In the clip, the residential complex, Central Park Resorts in Sector 48, is seen using rooftop sprinklers to spray a fine mist of water, creating artificial rainfall that helps settle dust and reduce pollution levels. The user, Rahul Yadav, claimed that the initiative keeps the AQI within the society low of often to 100, even as air quality remains poor across much of the city.

Sharing the video, Yadav wrote, “A society in Gurgaon that keeps AQI low with Artificial Rain. Video by @rahulpresents. While the whole city struggles to breathe, this place creates its own rain to fight pollution and it works. This is what futuristic living looks like.”

What did netizens say?

The video has clocked 4.6 million views, with several netizens commenting on the post. While some users have added funny comments, others have highlighted the serious situation concerning the toxic air quality levels in the city. A user jokingly said, “Sab log apna apna dekho, new India.” Another wrote, “Delhi ncr is living in ‘blade runner’ dystopia minus the future tech part.”

A third user said, “Do you even know how rainfall helps in reducing pollutant particles in the air getting reduced? This is just a farce. And I hope they don’t charge the residence for doing this. It doesn’t even reduce 1% of the AQI. What a joke we have become. Not addressing the original problem. Does the building have rainwater harvesting? Did they stopped the Diwali fireworks? Just either wasting clean water or sprinkling waste water and spreading diseases.”
