IND vs PAK Clash In Lahore, IND To Travel Only On One Condition

The fans witnessed an incredible clash between India and Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup as Team India got their second consecutive win on the night with a 6-run win in New York on June 9. The duo are set to face each other again next year as the Champions Trophy makes its return in the ICC trophy roster. However, with the hosting rights provided to Pakistan, Team India are uncertain about their participation in the neighbour country because of political tensions between the two.

Team India Not To Travel To Pakistan?

According to Cricbuzz, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized a draft schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy and submitted it to the ICC for approval. The schedule includes a match in Lahore between India and Pakistan, but this is contingent on the Indian government’s approval for the team to travel to Pakistan.

The PCB has proposed Karachi and Rawalpindi as venues for the 20-day tournament, with Lahore designated as the sole venue for India’s matches. The draft schedule allocates seven matches to Lahore, five to Rawalpindi, and three to Karachi.

The tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, February 19, in Karachi, with the semifinals planned for Karachi and Rawalpindi. The final is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, in Lahore. If India reaches the semifinals, that match will also be held in Lahore.

While the PCB has made extensive efforts to host the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the BCCI has yet to agree to the proposed venues. Neither the PCB nor the ICC has considered reverting to the hybrid model used in the 2023 Asia Cup.

The BCCI requires permission from the Indian government for the team to travel to Pakistan. Given the strained relations between the two countries, it seems unlikely that the Indian board will receive the necessary approval, at least under the current circumstances.
