Prithvi Shaw, the 25-year-old opening batter, has seen a turbulent journey in his cricketing career. Once hailed as a promising talent after winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award in his debut, Shaw’s is now facing a string of setbacks. Despite his promising start, he was dropped from Team India due to a prolonged poor form. Shaw again made a brief comeback but couldn’t sustain his form and now he has received three fresh setbacks. He was dropped from Mumbai Ranji squad, went unsold in IPL and now he has not been picked for Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Based on several reports, at just 25 years of age, Shaw’s net worth is said to be around Rs 25 crore. He has earned most of his money through his stint with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, where he was earning Rs 8 crore. This year, however, has been a disaster for him, as he went unsold at the IPL auction even at the base price of Rs 75 lakh.

 It was exactly two months back when Prithvi Shaw was shown the door by Mumbai from Ranji Trophy, this was reportedly happened due to his perceived fitness and lack of discipline. Shaw’s struggles do not end there as the former Delhi Capitals player was not sold in the IPL mega auction this month, despite having a base price of INR 75 lakhs. This would fall after a very disappointing season, and it would leave ever-increasing pressure on that young batter. The situation couldn’t get any worse now Prithvi Shaw has not been picked for Vijay Hazare Trophy. All these three setbacks will be a huge blow for Shaw not just emotionally but also financially.

Prithvi Shaw’s Cricketing Career

Shaw played his first match in Test cricket in 2018 and has so far made 5 appearances, scoring 339 runs with an average of 42.37, besides one century and two fifty. His last Test was in December 2020. In ODIs he has scored 189 from 6 matches at the average of 31.50. He has also taken part in one T20 International match but didn’t score any runs.

Shaw has also had a career in IPL. He scored 1892 runs in 79 matches with 14 half-centuries and a high score of 99 runs, and even set a record for hitting 6 fours in an over in the Indian Premier League. His play style is aggressive, scoring runs with the bat.

Again, despite his promising start at career, Shaw has faced several setbacks and now he’ll be looking to make a comeback stronger than ever.
