LeBron James made history during the Los Angeles Lakers’s 113-100 triumph over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. The 34 minutes in the game made LeBron extend his career total to 57,471 minutes, breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s previous NBA regular-season minutes record of 57,446 minutes.
James’ Strong Performance
James added 19 points, six rebounds, and seven assists while putting the Lakers ahead, where, along with a dominant show from Anthony Davis, which included 21 points, 20 rebounds, along with Austin Reaves for 35 points, his game-high tally, the game also had 16 points from D’Angelo Russell.
Late Rally By Sacramento Falls Short
The Kings did their best push in the final stretch of the game, taking it down to 93-90, thanks to De’Aaron Fox’s jumper with eight minutes remaining. A clutch bank shot by Reaves and free throws by Davis started a 10-2 run, pulling Los Angeles to take it away from the Kings for good.
De’Aaron Fox Leads The Kings
Fox was the driving force for Sacramento, finishing with 26 points, five assists, and three steals. Domantas Sabonis added 18 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, while Malik Monk contributed 17 points. The Kings just could not get it done as they committed too many turnovers and missed some great opportunities in the game.
Key Moment: Fox’s Fifth Foul
A pivotal moment occurred when Fox picked up his fifth foul with 6:47 remaining in the second half, limiting him to just 11 minutes for the remainder of the game. This hurt the Kings’ chances as they played much of the second half without their star point guard.
Lakers’ Inside Game & Defensive Improvements
The Kings’ improvement in the paint, holding the Lakers to 44 points inside, could not be capitalized on by them as they lost. It came just three days after Sacramento allowed 76 points in the paint to Denver.
Next Game: Saturday In Sacramento
The teams will face each other again on Saturday in Sacramento to conclude the two-game series as the Kings look to rebound from this loss.
