Punjab batter Anmolpreet Singh created history during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 match against Arunachal Pradesh. Anmolpreet Singh smashed the fastest ever hundred by a Indian List A batter and reached the three figure mark in just 35 balls. Overall this was the third fastest century by a batter and South Africa’s AB de Villiers (31) and Australia’s Jake Fraser McGurk (29). All together Anmolpreet Singh played an innings of 115* runs from 45 balls which helped his team chase down the target with ease.
Batting first Arunachal Pradesh was wrapped up for a score of 164 runs in 48.4 overs in which Techi Neri top scored with an innings of 42 runs from 73 balls. On the other hand, Hardik Himanshu Varma was the second highest run scorer of the first innings with an innings of 38 runs from 52 balls. Punjab bowlers Ashwani Kumar and Mayank Markande picked up three wickets apiece for Punjab whereas Baltej Singh picked up two wickets.
Chasing down the target Punjab lost the wicket of opener Abhishek Sharma early and got dismissed for just 10 runs. After the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma it was an Anmolpreet Singh show wherein the latter played smacked the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers to all the parts of the ground. In the end, Anmolpreet Singh remained unbeaten on 115 runs and smashed 12 fours and nine sixes during his stay at the crease. His partner Prabhsimran Singh remained unbeaten on 35 runs from 25 balls.
